Explore Uganda Cultural Heritage

Experience the vibrant and diverse cultural heritage of the Ugandan people with a guided tour into the lives of rural women, the custodians of traditions and indigenous knowledge. Their resilience and commitment to extended family and community have kept the African family intact through centuries of adversity.

Take a journey into the heart of the rural village and take part in the community’s daily activities: Your day begins with a visit to the local tea plantations where you will participate in the picking of tea with the locals then head to the heart of the village- the kitchen- where you will learn how to prepare tasty local delicacies and then indulge in your efforts. After you enjoy your meal, get to the village’s handicraft workshop, where you will observe the creation of traditional crafts by locals.

After the demonstration, you will get the chance to try weaving for yourself. One of the weavers from our women’s cooperative will act as your teacher to help you create your bracelet which you can take home as a memento of your time in the community. To finish off a day of culture, you will be treated to a performance of the traditional Ugandan traditional music and dance.

At the end of the tour, you will have the chance to buy textiles and souvenirs directly from the women who make them.  The weavers sell a wide range of high-quality artisan goods that we guarantee are hand-woven, naturally dyed, and 100% natural. Overnight at our homestay.
