Group Volunteer Opportunities

If you are a group leader looking to coordinate or lead an international group program, whether for academic, interning or volunteering experience, ASTCF offers custom programs that suit the interests, schedule, and budget of each group. Groups come from universities, high schools, clubs, or churches, or even be a group of friends wishing to build a customized international experience.
The process of putting together a customized program for your group begins with an email or phone call from a group leader. Group interests range from cultural immersion to travel, humanitarian to education services. We will work together to develop your program area, establish goals and create a flexible itinerary. Using your feedback, our experienced coordinator will build a final itinerary that best suits the group’s interest.
Our staff lives and works in the communities we partner with, ensuring that we are informed about community issues and maintain a close eye on the sustainability of our interns and efforts. Having on-site staff also means we’re familiar with the region and are on-hand to help you with any questions or issues that come up.

High School Student Groups
Although many of our projects for individuals are usually available to those above 18 years, we also welcome school volunteer groups so long as they are traveling with a teacher or leader who is over 18. Volunteering with ASTCF on a worthwhile project abroad as educational travel can bring learning to life and many benefits for students. Letting them see first-hand the issues faced by so many in the developing world can give them a real insight into the struggles of daily life in marginalized communities and put their lives at home into context.
Volunteering allows students to interact with the local people in a way that no other traveling experience can. Whether they are on a building project alongside locals working together as a team to improve community facilities or on a teaching project, assisting local teachers in the classroom, or taking part in reforestation, their volunteering experience will give them an insight into a culture that would just not be possible by simply visiting as a tourist.
Most of our projects are able to cater for school groups. However, we also create tailor-made itineraries that can accommodate your group’s needs. ASTCF understands that arranging a group volunteer placement is something that takes a lot of organization and forward planning. Therefore, we work closely with our groups and ensure that all arrangements are satisfactory to the group’s needs and objectives.

College/University Student Groups
Whether you are a student hoping to arrange a trip with your classmates to gain a hands-on experience related to your course, or head of department planning to arrange a volunteer project for your class, ASTCF can organize the best itinerary to suit your group interests.
Volunteering with ASTCF as part of a college/university group is not only of great fun, but it can also have many benefits for both your group and the communities that you are visiting. If you’re a first year student then you may be able to further your knowledge and gain more hands on experience that will greatly help you for your further years of study. If you’re in your final year, you may get the chance to put more of the skills you have learned into practice in real world situations; proving both beneficial for your studies and providing great practical work experience for gaining employment when you graduate.
The employment market today is a competitive one and many employers now demand for both the right qualifications and experience in the field. By volunteering on a project related to your studies, this will earn you more experience and enhance your CV/resume.
Many of our projects relate well with specific interests and to subject areas including medical projects for those desiring to acquire valuable work experience, projects working with children abused and those at risk for those with an interest in social work or psychology. The general skills and experience that you can bring to most of our projects is invaluable and by passing this on to the project team or community you are no doubt contributing a lot to their future.

Family Volunteer Groups
If you are seeking for ways to challenge your ideas and have a family holiday with a difference, while making an impact, then why not consider ASTCF family volunteering opportunity, where you and your children will have an opportunity to give back to communities in need.
With community development projects to teaching, working in childcare centres, getting involved in creative education and helping in building local initiatives, ASTCF offers a variety of projects that suit every member of your family. Children love to join projects with other children and bring enthusiasm, games and other skills that they can share with the community whilst the adults bring their skills and experience to the project.
Our family volunteer programs are designed for any group of people who are a family, from a single parent and his/her children, to a group of adult siblings, to a husband and wife duo, to two parents and their children, and so on. During your volunteer placement, children between 4 – 16 years of age will need to be supervised by a parent or guardian at all times, and teenagers above 16 years may volunteer with or without the accompaniment of their parent or guardian at the standard person program fee.
ASTCF offers a variety of projects, each carefully screened for safety. But we find that childcare centres and schools are a great place for families to volunteer. Sharing your family with less fortunate children is an unforgettable experience. Children of all ages can play with each other; teens can help with a variety of tasks; and adults can teach or care for the children.
